Seven Ways to Support Local Businesses that Won’t Cost You a Dime
Seven Ways to Support Local Businesses that Won’t Cost You a Dime.
Local businesses are struggling! Not just the mom-and-pop shops, but even some well established, multi-generation businesses that have become community staples.
What if I told you that you can help them flourish without spending a dime?
Of course, supporting local businesses with your $$$ is a huge help, and obviously recommended; however, there is much more you can do with a few taps of your fingers.
1) If you have made a purchase or have a connection with a business:
a. type their name in the Google search bar,
b. scroll down their information to the “write a review” button,
c. write a review describing your positive experience,
d. add pictures or a short video to your post.
Consider their overall rating when you check those stars. If they have a 3-star rating and you give 4-stars, that’s great! But, if they have 4.5-stars or better, a 4-star review can actually hurt their overall rating.
2) Follow, subscribe, like and join your favorited business pages and groups on social media. You may find them on Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn, Twitter and Tik Tok.
3) React to posts, reels, stories, and videos that your favored businesses share. Choosing a ❤ or a 😆 gives more value to the post than just a “like”.
4) Comment on posts, reels and stories made by your much-loved businesses. Participate in their polls, surveys, games, and the like. This really adds value to the post.
5) And most valuable……sharing. Sharing your most liked businesses posts really helps them get seen. Don’t be stingy…share, share, share!
6) The algorithms really love it if you do all three, react, comment and share. Do all the things that each platform offers.
7) Finally, when you see people on social media looking for services or products provided by your favored local businesses, comment and tag their business and/or name using the @ key. Adding detail to your post really helps it stand out to the OP and all the people following the post.
Final Note: The phone book is dead…. people go to their preferred community group on Facebook or other social media platform and ask for referrals for everything. Be an advocate of #shoplocal and support your favorite businesses by talking about them.
